Why and How to Add a Thank You Page on Your Squarespace Website

Blog Overview: Is a Thank You page the unsung hero of your website? In this blog post, I’ll share why adding a Thank You page redirect to your website is a fantastic addition to your client experience. From instant gratification to keeping your clients hooked, we'll review five reasons why a killer thank you page is a must-have in your workflow and follow with how to build one on your Squarespace website.

Little details can make all the difference in your client experience. One way you can enhance the experience from the start is through a Thank You Page redirect after a customer submits a Contact Form, or even signs up for your newsletter.

Let’s break down why thank you pages are a game-changer for your client experience & what to include

01. Offer Instant Confirmation

Picture this: Your client fills out your contact form, hits submit, and then... crickets. With a thank you page, you can instantly reassure them that their message was received loud and clear and what to expect next.

While you could include a simple message like "Thanks for reaching out! We've got your message and will be in touch shortly” right away, a redirect to a NEW page is an opportunity to lead them to your best resources and answer any outstanding questions with an FAQ accordion.

02. Keeps your User Experience Seamless

No one likes getting lost in the digital abyss. A well-designed thank you page keeps the user journey smooth and seamless.

For example, after someone signs up for your newsletter, you can direct them to a thank you page that not only confirms their subscription, but can also suggest popular blog posts or offers a special discount code to encourage further engagement.

Another great way to build a connection is through a welcome video saying thanks for subscribing or connecting about your offer and answering any common FAQs. You may have an automation set up with your CRM (I use Honeybook) but this is another opportunity to show your personality, answer common questions and give them more info that’s not on your website. This leads to ‘showcase your personality’ below.

03. Showcase your Personality

Your brand is your secret sauce (a la Jenna Kutcher), and your thank you page is the perfect place to let it shine. Add some personality with branded visuals, witty copy, and a splash of colour that's unmistakably you.

For example, if your brand is known for its playful vibe, consider adding a fun GIF or meme that reflects your personality. If you’ve been around, you might notice I have a thing for Schitts Creek and take on any number of their personalities depending on the day.

04. Keep Them Hooked

Your thank you page shouldn’t be a dead end, it's a golden opportunity to keep your clients engaged.

Throw in a juicy offer, a sneak peek at your latest content, or a killer call to action. Keep them clicking and coming back for more.

Have a funnel set up? This is a great spot to redirect to another free or low-cost offer and get them into your world to start nurturing them further.

05. It’s a Data Goldmine

Last but not least, let's talk about the cold, hard facts. With a thank you page, you're not just saying thanks—you're gathering valuable intel. Track those clicks, analyze that data, and get the inside scoop on what's working and what's not.

Use tracking tools like Google Analytics (or Squarespace Analytics) to see how many people visit your thank you page, where they're coming from, and what actions they take next.

How to Design a Thank You Page in Squarespace

Convinced to add a Thank You page to your Squarespace website, but not sure what to do next?

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

01. Navigate to the Pages section on your Dashboard

02. Add a New Page

  • In the ‘Not Linked’ section, click on the "+" icon to create a new page

03. Choose a Page Layout

  • Select a layout for your thank you page. Squarespace offers a variety of pre-designed templates to choose from or you could use one of your ‘Saved sections’ to keep things consistent on your website.

Tip: If you don’t have any ‘Saved sections’ and want to use a pre-designed section on your website, you can click on ‘Edit’, scroll to the section you want to save and then click on the favorite icon. This will save this section to your ‘Saved Sections’ area. See images below.

Otherwise, use a Blank section to start.

You will find all your ‘Saved Sections’ here

To add saved section, click on the Heart while in edit mode

04. Build and Customize Your Page

  • Customize your thank you page by adding text, images, and summary blocks to pull in blog posts, buttons, or any other content you'd like to include. This is where you could take some ideas above and add an FAQ (accordions are great for this), a lead magnet, popular blog posts, and an invitation to subscribe to your newsletter. This will depend on what the Thank You page is for (contact, newsletter, purchase, etc).

05. Connect and Test Your Page

  • On your Contact Form (or Newsletter Block) under Content, Choose Post-Submit and Redirect. Here you will select the page you’re directing to using the URL dropdown (see image below).

  • Be sure to test it to ensure that everything is working as intended. Submit a form on your website and make sure you're redirected to the thank you page afterward.

ADD THE THANK YOU PAGE USING THE REDIRECT OPTION ON YOUR CONTACT OR NEWSLETTER FORM. YOU CAN ALSO REDIRECT TO THIS PAGE USING YOUR CRM.

06. Preview and Publish Your Page

  • Once you're happy with how your thank you page looks, preview it to see how it will appear to your visitors. If everything looks good, ‘Enable Page’ to make your thank you page live on your website.

  • Note, make sure you have changed the Page Title and URL slug to something relevant, like Thank You (see image).

  • You will also want to click into SEO for this page in the gear wheel and choose ‘ hide page from search results’. We don’t want this to be found by Google, only when people are redirected to the page (see image).

Under SEO, hide the page from search results

07. Monitor Performance:

  • Keep an eye on your thank you page's performance using Squarespace analytics. Track metrics like page views and user flow, conversion rates, and form submissions to see how well your thank you page is engaging your audience.
